Long before joining the City of Houston, Tameka found her passion in helping people succeed. Whether assisting someone with a job application, updating a résumé, preparing for an interview, or connecting them with employment opportunities, she dedicated herself to helping others build brighter futures. She understood that meaningful work provides not only financial stability, but also dignity, confidence, and opportunity for individuals and their families.

Today, that same passion for service drives Tameka’s commitment to Houston municipal employees. Just as she has been a voice for people beginning their careers, she is ready to be a voice for employees planning for retirement. Tameka has listened to Plan D members and heard their concerns about retirement security, their future, and the need for meaningful pension improvements.

As Trustee Position #5, Tameka’s priorities include advocating for the reinstatement of DROP, lowering the retirement age for Plan D members, protecting pension sustainability, and fostering collaboration among all stakeholders. She believes that employees who dedicate their careers to serving the City of Houston deserve not only a rewarding career, but also a strong and secure retirement.
